neurosomatic therapy can help with mental health, mobility, chronic pain and wellness

What is NeuroSomatic Therapy?

My goal is to help you leverage your brain's incredible capacity to rewire so that you can reduce pain, recover from injuries, heal from physical and emotional wounds, and finally live the life you want.

My transformational neurosomatic therapy approach combines the principles of proven disciplines such as neuroscience, positive psychology, heart coherence, Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping), Neuro-Coaching, and ABM Neuromovement®.

In each session, you embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing, and you benefit from concrete tools and practices to make deep, lasting changes in your life, starting with rewiring your brain for pain reduction and happiness.

Whatever your challenge, I will meet you where you are, with a compassionate ear and an open heart, to gently guide you towards a better life.

NeuroMovement®

A pillar of the neurosomatic therapy approach, the Anat Baniel Method of NeuroMovement® is a method that uses soft, slow patterns of subtle movement to give information to your brain.  With richer sensory information, your brain can form new connections that take you away from the habitual patterns that lead to pain and injury. Slowness reinforces the brain's ability to change and rewire, and creates a soothing ground from which to learn, or relearn.  The method is great for reducing chronic pain, recovering from accidents sports injuries, strokes, but also overcoming chronic conditions such as fibromyalgia or cerebral palsy.  And because we store much of our emotional pain in our bodies, the method is also very powerful in relieving stress and anxiety.

Emotional Freedom Technique and Thought Field Therapy

These two techniques are based on ancient Chinese medicine practices that are based on the knowledge that energy travels along specific pathways in our bodies.  Blockages - such as those caused by emotional pain, trauma or physical injuries - prevent circulation of energy and healing.  With EFT and TFT, you clear these blockages by tapping on specific points while also working on de-programming habitual negative patterns of thinking. This technique is a great way of dealing with persistent negative beliefs, but also of reducing chronic pain or flare-ups, managing stress and anxiety, and overcoming obstacles.  A great companion to Neuromovement®, EFT is also scientifically proven to work! I use EFT and TFT in neurosomatic therapy as a way to help you reprogram certain patterns of thinking; or as a tool to manage and reduce chronic pain.

Neurosomatic coaching and counseling

Neurosomatic coaching is a talk-based therapy that leverages your inner brain mechanisms to support emotional and physical healing, and to help you achieve your life and wellness goals.  In a neurosomatic coaching process, we consider your objectives and what is preventing you from achieving them, and gradually change your thought patterns towards more supportive schemes.  Because our behaviour tends to reflect our thinking, neurosomatic coaching gives you the tools to rewire your brain for better mental health and well-being.  Undertaken in conjunction with NeuroMovement®  and other techniques, it supports integrative healing, holistic wellness, towards a life without pain.

Heart Coherence, Polyvagal Theory

The links between brain and heart and the role of the vagus nerve in health have long been scientifically proven, and play a key role in modulating our response to stress and pain.  In order to heal, we need to quiet the nervous system so that it provides a healthy terrain for natural processes to occur.  There are ways in which you can tap into this incredibly powerful and rich system, including by learning to use your breath to tune your heart rate and through various exercises to tone the vagus nerve.  An essential part of any healing process, whether from physical injury, chronic pain, trauma or any of life's stresses.

About me

Trained as an environmental scientist, I have had a long career working to combat climate change. My journey changed when I started experiencing infertility, and had to go through the emotional roller coaster of failing to conceive.

Then I got breast cancer. I had a mastectomy, and lost the ability to conceive or carry children.  That nearly broke me. But it didn't stop me. One year after, at the age of 42, I became a mom to twins with the help of a surrogate. And then I realized that motherhood didn't come naturally. It wasn't enough to just be there. I had some more healing to do before being a good parent.

One of my twins was born with Down Syndrome.  Being a parent to a child with neurological differences, different abilities and sometimes special needs comes with extra layers of complexity - and unique joys! It is thanks to him that I was introduced to the Anat Baniel Method® of Neuromovement®.

Then just as things were getting better... I got breast cancer, again.  More surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, the long and painful reconstruction and recovery process. Through it all, lots of pain.

It was these challenges that set me on a path to discovering the brain, how we learn and change, and to become a neurosomatic therapist. The approaches I discovered helped me improve my life, my health and my relationships.

Now I want to share them with you.
