About the Director. Ann Thevenin. CCH

Ann Thevenin is a holistic professional with a background in conventional medicine. Ann was a medical assistant and a pharmaceutical representative who had a great interest in the mind/body connection. She became certified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, specializing in guided imagery for illness and healing. Ann teaches patients techniques to empower themselves by gaining control over their symptoms through self-hypnosis and guided imagery. She is one of the first Hypnotherapists in the country to receive state licensure (Indiana). Recognized internationally for her work, Ann is an annual presenter for the A.C.H.E. International Hypnotherapists' Conference, as well as an Instructor and Designated Examiner. Ann has trained the state of Nevada's Emergency Services Personnel Division in techniques to enhance survival and healing. Some of the medical cases Ann has worked on with local physicians are: control of chemotherapy side effects, painless childbirth, reduction of blood flow during plastic surgery, essential blepharospasm, accelerated healing, pain control, and easy breathing, as well as stress reduction. She has worked with Hospice of Grossmont Hospital in San Diego and the Veteran's Administration to assist patients and their families at the end of life. Ann has also been featured nationally as an expert in mind/body healing on the Health Network, a division of Fox TV. Ann is the Director of Life Design Hypnosis Training and is in private practice.

Ann is also a Traditional Reiki (pronounced Ray-kee) practitioner, instructor, and Master. Reiki is one of the older systems of healing touch being utilized today in homes, hospices, and hospitals. Ann teaches to the general public and her classes are recognized for Continuing Education by the California Board of Registered Nurses. Ann is also Director of Reiki Outreach International, the organization founded by Mary McFadyen in 1990.

She is currently a member of Mensa, the Foundation For Women, and Toastmasters. She volunteers for UCSD Medical Center's Project Interface, where she is part of a multi-national medical healing team that travels to Mexico to repair birth defects. She is also on the "A" Team for Compassion In Action, a para-hospice group.

Ann was born in southeastern Ohio, and presently resides in San Diego, California, with her husband and a menagerie of animals.
